CAMPING IN CWM BYCHAN

Llais Ardudwy July 1993

Friday, 25th of June, year 3, 4, 5 and 6 went camping to Cwm Bychan. The weather was wonderful and everyone had fun. Some had packed for two weeks before. We had put the tents next to the swings, and the barbecue was ready for Saturday night. Mrs Paul had brought rounders bats and a football and a hundred and one other things. After making the beds and other jobs we were allowed to play. Some went to the forest to play hide and seek and others on the swings and played rounders. When it was 9.00 o'clock we went for a walk through the fields, over the stile and back round . The time flew by and it was 10.10. When we came back it started to rain. We had a cup of tea and biscuits, and everyone went to sleep!

At night nobody could sleep because everyone was talking and shouting from one tent to the other, and Mrs James and Mrs Paul came around to try to get us to sleep. When it was 3.00 o'clock in the morning the rain and wind had worsened. David, Bryn and Paul's tent had flooded and Paul and Bryn had to go to Geraint, Deian and Owain's tent. Owain had to go to the spare tent. David had to go to the girls' tent to sleep, and we woke Mrs Paul and Mrs James to tell them.

The next morning the rain was still falling, but the wind had stopped, and after breakfast we had to go home because our things were all wet. It was better to go home than to stay another night as we were, or we would have contracted pneumonia. I hope to go again next year.
