Clwb y Werin

Clwb y Werin (a Social Club) meets in the Talsarnau Community Hall every Monday afternoon, from 1.30 to 3.30 p.m., except on Bank Holidays, and a welcome is extended to all.

There is no age limit, but most of the members are over 50. A contribution of £2.00 a session is paid, plus 50p. for the raffle. Bingo is also played at the end of each session and there are good prizes in the raffle and bingo.

The aim of the Club is for everyone to enjoy themselves, to take part in the various games and to socialise. It is possible to play cards, dominoes and bowls, but the main attraction is scrabble which can be played in Welsh or English, with four tables playing at the same time. There are up to 18 members on some days, and all enjoy a cuppa and biscuit, or cake sometimes, during the afternoon - if someone is celebrating a special birthday!. Time goes by very quickly with everyone enjoying themselves in pleasant surroundings.

The members enjoy a meal out twice a year - usually during the summer and then have a Christmas Dinner with funds from the Club paying for all members. Local eating places in Talsarnau are patronised, together with the cafeteria at the Harlech Swimming Pool.

All funds go towards maintaining the Community Hall.

The Club is somewhere to go on a Monday afternoon - summer or winter!
